Cadet Blues Jazz Ensemble

The Cadet Blues Jazz Ensemble has been a part of La Salle’s rich history since the 1990s. This ensemble, consisting of La Salle's finest musicians, has won many awards at prestigious music festivals including the Fonda-Fultonville Jazz Festival, Oneida Jazz Festival, New Hartford Jazz Festival and the National Jazz Festival in Philadelphia, PA. This group is often asked to perform at various local and regional venues from The Glen Sanders Mansion to elementary schools, churches, military ceremonies and shopping malls.

In what has become their hallmark event, the Cadet Blues Jazz Ensemble thrills attendees each year as they perform on a Friday evening in December at the historic Troy Savings Bank Music Hall. Come April, these young musicians are the main attraction of the annual Spring Band Concert which is held in our own McCormick Hall. Participation in this award-winning ensemble requires musical skill, experience and dedication, and participation is by audition.

Symphonic Band

The Symphonic Band is comprised of ninth through twelfth graders and a few dedicated middle school students. Its repertoire is mainly classical music but does include show tunes, marches and pop music. This concert band includes instruments such as piccolos, flutes, oboes, bassoons, clarinets, bass clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones, french horns, baritone horns, tubas, percussion instruments, keyboards, and electric basses and guitars. If a young person plays an instrument, we will work their talent into this group!

This band has a powerful concert presence and performs each year at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and La Salle’s annual Spring Band Concert.

Middle School Band

The Middle School Band is comprised of sixth through eighth graders and provides an opportunity for these younger students to develop and refine their musical interest and talent, no matter their level of experience. This band also participates in two performance concerts each year, at Christmas and in the Spring.
