  1. Congratulations to the LaSalle Varsity Baseball Cadets!!

The Varsity Cadets are 8 – 0 on the season and ranked 7th in New York State. This past week the team defeated Cohoes by a score of 10 – 0, Guilderland by a score of 8-1, Troy by a score of 19-12, and Schalmont by a score of 13-3 yesterday at Greer Field. The Cadets play away this afternoon at CBA, then on Friday at Ichabod Crane and end the week Saturday verse Bethlehem High School.

The team has been playing great baseball throughout the lineup and the pitching has been superb. Junior Robert Sicluna, Junior Sean Moore and Junior Ray Contessa anchor the pitching rotation, while Senior Kade Flynn comes in and pitches in relief.

On the field the team is led by Senior Captain and catcher JJ Hunter, who smacked a huge homeroom against Guilderland, Senior Roscoe Carroll plays exceptional defense at shortstop, and the consistent power hitting of Senior Dan McCue who starts at 1st base. Senior Will Kelly is the leadoff hitter for the team and plays center field.

Rounding out the starters are Aiden Dyer, Ryan Guzior, Pat McDonough, Michael Mann, Cameron Mooney and Nick Kraz. Other contributors are Derek DeSanto, Sam Marshall and Tyler Apple.

Consistent off the bench production includes Seniors Jack Maloney, Christian Riegert, Gianni Ricci, Nick Verdichizzi, and Conal Devine. Sophomore Donovan Letteri made his varsity catching debut in the win over Schalmont. Come out to the Diamond and cheer on the team! Go Cadets!!!
