LaSalle Institute, led by its Student Senate conducts an annual Christmas Toy Drive to benefit families/children in-need in the Troy area through SunnySide Center that is based in Troy, which is affiliated with Catholic Charities. The Toy Drive begins Wednesday November 29thand will end Friday, December 15th. The Student Senate and the school are urging each student to please donate $10 dollars or a new toy. The toy can be anything age appropriate for children infant through 14 years old. This monetary donation or toy can be brought to their homeroom teachers.
According to Kim Piser, the Director of Sunnyside Center located in Troy: “The support that Sunnyside has received from the La Salle Community through its Christmas Toy Drive has been wonderful! Over the years, it has enabled us to provide toys to more than 100’s of at-risk children. We can only imagine the delight on the children’s faces as they open their presents on Christmas morning…presents they would not have had without your generosity. Your support this Christmas Season is appreciated more than you’ll ever know.”
This is a perfect way to follow in the footsteps of the school’s founder, John Baptist De LaSalle, in providing much needed support to the disadvantaged in our community.
