The Business department at La Salle Institute is the only program in the Albany, New York area to incorporate real world exposure in all of its courses. Every project has true implication within a business environment, from creating a logo for a local business to building a marketing plan for a startup company. Our goal is to give students unprecedented exposure to the business community and to provide an understanding and appreciation of what it takes to operate a business in the 21st century.
Within the Business department, topics may range from Marketing, Law, Business Operations, Finance, Sports Management and Business Concepts. Academics are blended with real-world application to teach concepts from teamwork to communication to ethics to critical thinking, covering all aspects of the business world.
During their junior year, students are given the option to pursue a marketing or management track in the Business department.
The marketing track gives students the opportunity to interact with companies on both a local and national level, including possible internships. Students who enroll in the Advanced Marketing Class have the opportunity to take part in the Youth Education Series Program at Walt Disney World. Here are two student accounts from the 2018 trip:
The management track covers the legal aspects of owning and running a business, from the sole proprietor to corporate. It also covers what it takes to operate a business in a 21st century business environment.
