La Salle Institute Parents Club

The La Salle Institute Parents Club's mission is threefold:

  • Contribute to the school's operating budget, capital and/or endowment funds.
  • Provide a community atmosphere for the La Salle family.
  • Perpetuate the philosophy of the Christian Brother schools with a close cooperation between school and home.

Our activities include hosting several school functions, providing administrative support at school and athletic events, and conducting various fundraisers that total more than $100,000 annually. In fact, the Parents Club has raised and contributed over $1 million to La Salle over the last 15 years.

The major events and activities of the Parents Club are coordinated through the following Committees:

  • Car Raffle: The Committee coordinates the annual raffle of a new car, including displaying the car and selling tickets at various events from June through December. Volunteers are needed to perform various administrative tasks as well as sell tickets at events including Lake George, Columbia County Fair, Empire State Plaza, and Crossgates Mall, among others.
  • Auction: The Committee plans and hosts the annual auction in conjunction with the Brother James L. Romond, FSC Awards Gala. Volunteers are needed to work on planning and administrative aupport; solicit sponsorships, donations and auction items as well as decorate and manage the auction venue.
  • Used Uniform Sale: The Committee holds a used uniform sale in late June after school ends. Volunteers are needed to set-up the night before the sale and to work the night of the sale.
  • Athletic Events: Volunteers are needed to work on concessions, gate, security, and 50/50 raffle at football, soccer, basketball, ice hockey and other athletic events.
  • Holiday Sale: The Committee arranges for the annual Christmas sale of citrus, greens, poinsettias, cheesecakes, wrapping paper and chocolates. Volunteers are needed for administrative support to process orders and coordinate with vendors. Volunteers also cooridnate the pick-up of merchandise at school by customers on a Saturday morning in early December.
  • Hospitality: The Committee arranges meals and/or refreshments for a variety of school functions. Volunteers are needed to: plan functions, solicit donation of meals and refreshments, and work at the functions including set-up, service, and clean-up.
  • Administrative Support & Communications: The Committee provides administrative support to the Parents Club and school. Volunteers are needed to assist with communications (telephoning, mailing, computer entry, etc.) and assisting with various fundraising activities such as the Race For Education, Magazine Drive for our Brother school in Africa, and Entertainment Book sales.
