Welcome to La Salle's Fine Arts Department webpage.

Studio Art is a year course for students of all ages with the objective of building an art portfolio. A range of subjects will be introduced including drawing, perspective, gesture and contour drawing, use of color, positive and negative space, and use of line and tone. A variety of media will be used such as pencil, ink, brush, pastel, charcoal, watercolor and acrylics. A sketchbook will be maintained throughout the year and should contain sketches, notes, and studies related to ongoing class work. Students will prepare work suitable for display in addition to the contents of their sketchbooks.

Fine Arts 8 is a semester course for eighth grade students with the purpose of providing students with some skills in and appreciation of the visual arts. Students learn feature drawing, figure drawing, one and two point perspective, shading, and use of positive and negative space. Students work in a variety of media; pencil, ink, watercolor, acrylics, watercolor pencil, chalk and oil pastels. Normally two origami project are completed during the semester. Students should have an open attitude toward these projects in order to have the greatest success.
