Word Processing skills are developed using Microsoft Word. Students first learn how to format pages, text and images. They then use tables, mail merge, and graphs for project assignments. Instruction on how a computer works, Photoshop Elements and on the proper and effective use of the Internet are incorporated into the course. A final Microsoft Publisher brochure project uses the skills they have developed throughout the course.

Spreadsheet skills are developed using Microsoft Excel. Students create and format data, use formulas and display information on graphs. They learn how to use Excel as a database. As they work on Excel, they are introduced to more advanced Photoshop techniques and Flash Animation. These skills are used to design an animated PowerPoint presentation at the end of the course
Students who work in the media classes are responsible for developing and presenting in at least one of the following areas: Journalism (school newspaper and other print publications), TV studio (filming, editing, and broadcasting the morning news), or web technology (working on the school web site)

Digital Design skills are developed using advanced features of Photoshop and Fireworks. Students learn how to adjust photos and create images for posters, handouts, and web-sites. Using Flash students are introduced to cartooning and animation techniques. With these skills students create their own e-cards, flash videos and animated PowerPoint© presentations. At the end of the course they produce a commercial using a visual communicator and a personal video with Movie Maker or Adobe Premiere Elements.

Word Processing, Spreadsheet, and PowerPoint skills are reinforced at the start of the semester. Using Photoshop/Fireworks and Flash, students learn the basics of digital design and incorporate them into an animated PowerPoint project. Basic web design using both HTML code and Dreamweaver is the focus for the second semester. Students create web pages, learn how to work with tables, design menus, rollovers, and forms. Flash and Video are incorporated to create a more interactive and interesting web site.
