Juniors and Seniors have the option of taking the required Physical Education course in one of two formats: standard program, or weight training & conditioning.
The commitment to one format or the other is for the entire year.
This elective is focused on developing strength, flexibility, and cardio-vascular conditioning. This is not a sport-specific weight course. Proper lifting techniques and lifting progressions will be taught and closely monitored by the instructor. Each student will be graded on knowledge and performance of lifting procedures and techniques. An understanding of the physiology of exercise and its influence on the human body will be emphasized. All students are expected to remain enrolled in the course for the entire school year. Failure to follow safety standards and/or adhere to course requirements will result in failure and could result in expulsion from this elective.
