STUDENTS TAKING COURSES AT HVCC or R.P.I. – Administrative approval required
In a case where a student has exhausted the course of study in a given discipline at La Salle, he may apply for permission to take a relevant course at Hudson Valley Community College or at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Students who have permission to take a course at HVCC during the school day do so at their own expense. In some cases a student may take a course at HVCC which is reimbursable. In order to gain approval for taking a reimbursable course, the student must have the approval of the parents, the Director of Guidance, the Dean of Academics, and the Principal (all four, in that order).
Students pay all tuition and fees to HVCC at the beginning of the semester. Students who receive a final grade of ‘A’ will receive a reimbursement of $100 x the number of credit hours. Students who receive a final grade of ‘B’ will receive a reimbursement of $75 x the number of credit hours. Grades below a ‘B’ are not reimbursable.
In either case, since students are registered at HVCC, they are subject to the rules of the college. In addition, they are responsible for any La Salle class work they miss while the HVCC class is in session.
Courses completed through at HVCC must be entered into the high school transcript. Attendance is important.
Students may register at Community Colleges for courses of their own interest, on their own outside of the school day at their own expense. The Principal has the final decision as to whether that course can be added to the student’s academic record.
